Your first loss is your best loss!
Before I began my Real Estate career in September of 1999, I spent my entire career in the Grocery industry.
Would you believe that while working in the produce department, the Produce Manager told me “Now Jan always remember that your first loss is your best loss.” What he was saying was that if one leaf on a head of lettuce was bad pull it off and throw it away. If a customer saw this bad leaf they would not buy the lettuce and a sale was lost!
This is also true with someone who is thinking about selling their home and buying another one in our current Buyer’s market! When someone asks me if it is a good time to sell my home, my answer is yes, if you are willing to take a small hair cut on your home and we will give someone else a bigger hair cut on the home they buy! So your first loss in this case is your best loss!

Many Baby Boomers have built up a substantial amount of equity in their homes and are content with making improvements to their existing home and staying where they are. But along with this, they are giving financial assistance and advise to their children and family members who may be buying their first home. To them, they have the best of both worlds. They have a home they are comfortable in and they are helping out a family member at the same time.

Most of the news lately about real estate has been dismal: Home prices are swooning, foreclosures ballooning.
There is, however, one bright spot: the rental market, where demand is up and rents are rising. That's partly because those foreclosures have turned more than 4 million former homeowners into renters, but also because many other prospective homeowners, worried about losing their jobs or housing prices falling a lot further still, are reluctant to buy now.
