Home values
When I first meet with a new client who is considering buying a home, I like to meet with them at my office because this is the one biggest investment most individuals make!
At this first meeting, I like to talk about three main subjects:
By far the most important of these is location! You may be asking why? Many times individuals who are looking for a home have not really thought through this process and the interesting thing is that usually there is not even an agreement between the husband and spouse of where specifically they want to be. I discuss the important things like where do you work? How much time are you comfortable with in commuting to work? What time do you leave for work and what time do your return home? This gets you to thinking! Do you want to spend a little more for your ideal home and have a short commute, or do you want more space and don’t mind the extra time with a longer commute.
Do you have children? If so, I will discuss with you the strength of the school district where you want to live. You may say your children go to a private school so location may not an issue for the present time. If you are planning on making a transition to the public school system later then you have to plan for that now.
Is a master planned community what you are looking for? I will explain the pros and cons of this type of community.
I will probably suggest that I give you a broad brush tour of a number of major subdivisions to give you a real feel of the area; the amenities close by, schools, shopping, etc. I want your honest opinion so if you do not like a subdivision just say Jan “Get us out of here”. You are not going to hurt my feelings because I want you to be happy.
After you have found the specific area where you would like to call home, then I will assist you in reviewing listings either new or re-sale until you find that perfect home you and your family are looking for!
This process may seem scary, but I will be with you every step of the way, it will fun, and you will be in your new home before you know it!
